B-MOVIE OF THE MONTH - GULAG (TV 1985)

This month B-Movie Gazette dives into the prison genre and who doesn't like a good prison flick? Gulag is an extremely well-produced TV movie originally made for HBO before wandering out to obscurity-land. David Keith is in top form as a sportscaster and while covering an event in Moscow is framed by the KGB. Unable to prove his innocence a prison escape is now inevitable, just how will he do it? Malcolm McDowell co-stars, this is a good one folks! 2.75 stars/2.75

MY SATURDAY SPENT WATCHING ALL 4 MATT HELM MOVIES - "THE SILENCERS" AND "MURDERER'S ROW" STILL ROCKS - DEAN STILL THINKS HE SINGS BETTER THAN SINATRA

Light, silly but entertaining and completely binge worthy, here comes all four Matt Helm movies which I watched in order last Saturday. Best but not accurately described as a late 60's spoof on 007. Being in the over-50 crowd the series is very familiar territory, they used to show these to us on movie night in boarding school on 16mm.

The girls, the gadgets, tounge-in-cheek humor, exotic locations, 60's styles and fashion, and of course Dino himself are all here for the Helm newbies out there, I suggest you dive in from the beginning and may your trip be enjoyable. Oh, and let's not forgot his trusty assistant Lovie Craves It, yep that's her name, a T-Bird that flashes messages on it's rear bumper, a flying saucer that gets chased on train tracks, have I convinced you yet? Happy to say all four are not only available in the streaming world but quite good quality transfers, I rated the films individually as follows.

The Silencers 3.0/5
Murderer's Row 3.0/5
The Ambushers 2.75/5
The Wrecking Crew 2.5/5
