B-MOVIE OF THE MONTH - GULAG (TV 1985)

This month B-Movie Gazette dives into the prison genre and who doesn't like a good prison flick? Gulag is an extremely well-produced TV movie originally made for HBO before wandering out to obscurity-land. David Keith is in top form as a sportscaster and while covering an event in Moscow is framed by the KGB. Unable to prove his innocence a prison escape is now inevitable, just how will he do it? Malcolm McDowell co-stars, this is a good one folks! 2.75 stars/2.75

ROBERT DUVALL IS IN "THE PURSUIT OF D.B. COOPER" (1981) - WOODSY ACTION DRAMA ENVISIONS WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED ONCE HE LANDED ON THE GROUND

In order to really enjoy this 1981 obscurity you have to understand it's not the story of the famous hijacker that pulled off the only unsolved hijacking in aviation history but a fictional imagining of what happened to him once he hit the ground. In a nutshell, it's a cat and mouse chase between Robert Duvall who plays the insurance investigator on Treat Williams tail, who plays our infamous bandit. Most of the action takes place outdoors and the locations and direction here are all top notch.

For several decades, the film was a collector's item as it was only available on VHS, never on DVD. I remember paying twenty-five for a copy in 2007. This all changed when it was released into the streaming world a few years back. Currently streaming on Tubi for free. File this one under "overlooked" and then have a look, ha ha.   3.0 stars/5
